Can Nonverbal Communication Knowledge Affect Business Success?

Believe it or not, you can’t really succeed if you don’t learn the basics, not say master, nonverbal communication in business!

Analysis of interpersonal communication is incomplete without considering beyond simple language. Indeed, a thorough knowledge of body language and good use of nonverbal communication “can help managers enhance their power, as measured by monetary success in the business world.”

Today, most successful executives favor verbal over written communication since this enables them to decode message through the reading of body language and tone of voice.

Understanding nonverbal communication can enhance business success for several reasons, a few of them are:

  • face-to-face communication stimulates the greatest number of senses and provides more complete information than any other mode of communication;
  • you get the chance to send and receive rapid feedback;
  • it allows you to control your pace;
  • it offers a variety of “message codes” like the availability of verbal communication in addition to gestures, tone, pace, and posture.

All of the above are crucial factors that can affect the way a businessman/woman motivate, persuade and influence another person toward a specific desired outcome.
